The Werewolf Village

I'm going to tell you a story about a very mysterious, medieval village named WIESENGAU.
On the surface, it seemed to be an ordinary little village like many others; but at full moon night 60 percent of its inhabitants became werewolves, and a young lady called Katrin was their leader. As inconspicuous as the village itself, she looked rather like an average girl; however, even when she was sitting on the top of a hill, howling at the bright moon, her mind was full of wacky thoughts, overflowing with ideas more fantastic and mindboggling than most people can imagine.

  Full Moon Madness

One day, a young Indian prince appeared on a magic carpet. He did not intend to stay longer, but when he saw Katrin, he fell so deeply in love with her that he asked her right away to marry him. "Oh my dearest prince", she replied, "I feel the same way for you and I'd really like to become your wife and go with you, but I have other obligations. I'm bound to this village; there's an awful secret you better should not know -- so I want you to go, for your own safety!" The prince was fairly depressed when he heard these words. "Oh my darling", he said, "It may be just a short time ago since we first met, but in my heart I've known you all my life. I know that you are a werewolf! It doesn't frighten me at all; for such a bold and sweet girl like you could never hurt anyone -- and maybe the magicians in my home country could even take this nasty spell off you!" -- "I wished I could believe you, but it is simply a fact that no one can deliver us from our fate. You are not the first one who wants to help me and my people; a lot of wise men have tried before -- and they all failed, most of them even died! Of course it is true that I never could harm you or anyone else, but many other village people are by far not as friendly as me once they have got transformed into werewolves! So please, please, go away, before it's too late!"

But the prince was totally unscared. He flew back to India and returned only four days later with the best wizard he could find. The magician really did his utmost, but not even that powerful person was able to find a solution. Katrin had definitely told the truth; annoyed and disappointed the wizard disappeared into thin air and left the prince alone, who was even more disappointed. Finally, he saw only one way left to stay together with his beloved dreamgirl: He came to her on the day before the next full moon night, fell down on his knees and begged: "Please bite me tonight, so that I, too, become a werewolf -- then we can be together for eternity!" Katrin was so shocked that she sent him away, shouting: "Are you nuts? Do you really know what nonsense you are saying? No simple craftsman's daughter like me is worth such a sacrifice. So go back to your home country, marry a princess and do behave like a member of a royal family instead of hanging around with some cursed German villagers! Go! I never want to see you again!" She tried to sound as aggressively as possible, but the tears in her eyes told him that she said this only for one reason: pure, immortal love -- she didn't want him to endanger his life by acting so stupidly; although she had been dreaming of getting married to a real prince all her life, she also knew that it was completely impossible to stay together with him. If she left Wiesengau, she would definitely die within a few weeks, and all the other werewolves in the village, too.

The night came, and the prince still hadn't gone. Katrin, who was beautiful even as a werewolf, looked at him with bright, sad eyes and she realised that his suggestion was the only true solution. So she bit him tenderly, and within less than one minute he became a werewolf like her. But what was that? The transformation reversed after a few minutes, and all werewolves became human beings again, although the full moon was still shining brightly! The spell was taken away from the village: the willingness to sacrifice by a loving heart was stronger than any kind of magic -- free at last, free at last!

One week later, Katrin and the prince got married. Never again the villagers got transformed into werewolves, and they all lived in peace and harmony -- until the plague came...

The End
